Overhill
Communities provide East Tennessee living at its best. It's a combination of
lush rural landscape with the conveniences of a modern city in nearby Knoxville. The Overhill
Communities is named for the Cherokee Indians Over-the-hill (mountain)
country. There are rich traditions in the Overhill
heritage. There are plenty of activities nearby in Knoxville and the
Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, and Gatlinburg
resort areas. 
The Great Smoky Mountains and the national and state parks are

The Overhill Communities are in Monroe County with a population
of 35,000 people. The Knoxville area which is less than an hour away has a
population of 300,000. There are good medical
facilities, shopping, and schools within Monroe County plus a growing manufacturing industry.
The cost of living is low with no state income tax
and
very reasonable real estate and personal property tax. The annual property tax on a
$150,000 home in Monroe County is about $700.00. Utilities are low compared to
almost any place in the U.S..
Outdoor living is a year round activity
in east Tennessee. The summer are long with plenty of hiking, fishing,
boating in the Smoky Mountains, lakes, rivers and creeks.
Fall is a legendary time in the Tennessee mountains with millions
of acres of bright foliage. Fall is also a great time for outdoor
activities with warm days and cool nights. The winters are short
and mild with an occasional snow and most winter days outdoor activities
are comfortable. Spring brings the azaleas, dogwood and the beauty
of new life.
